Konica Minolta printer/copier/scanners are available in many departments throughout The Graduate Center. If you need to print to a KM in your department and are not able to, please contact the Help Desk for assistance.

To contact a KM technician, go to MyKMBS.com and have your KM serial number ready.

Loading: How do I load paper?

  • 1st drawer
  1. Press down on the metal handle (paper lifting plate) until it locks into place.
  2. Adjust the internal guides; load the paper into the drawer.
  • 2nd drawer
  1. Press down on the paper-lifting plate until it locks into place.
  2. Adjust the internal guides; load the paper into the drawer.
  3. LCT (large capacity tray)
  4. Press the drawer push button and then pull out the paper drawer.
  5. Load the paper into the right side of the paper drawer.
  6. Load the paper into the left side of the paper drawer.


Copying: How do I make a copy?

Place original on glass in upper left hand corner, close lid, enter the # of copies; press start.


How do I make copies using the document feeder?

Place originals face up in document feeder; place longer originals in landscape position first. Original size will be detected automatically & displayed in the message area of the basic screen.


How is the paper size selected?

Paper sizes are automatically detected when documents are loaded. Select PAPER on the basic screen; touch the desired paper size.


How can I make single or double sided copies?

Select the Simplex/Duplex tab from the main screen; your options are:

  • “single sided to single sided”: 1-sided original to make 1-sided copy
  • “single sided to double sided”: 2, 1-sided originals to make 2-sided copies
  • “double sided to single sided”: select paper size, 2-sided originals to make 1-sided copies
  • “double sided to double sided”: select paper size, 2-sided originals to make 2-sided copies
  • Make your choice, press OK and enter the number of desired copies. Press START.


How do I know if the copier is doing portrait or landscape copies?

Press the paper button on the right hand side; the picture will indicate if it is portrait or landscape.


“C” Button: What is the C button?

The C button clears the number of sets requested.


Reduce/Enlarge: How do I reduce/enlarge a copy?

Select zoom, then

  1. Select auto zoom to reduce the size of the document (choose the paper size)
  2. Select the up (increase) or down (decrease) arrow to enlarge or reduce the document size.
  3. Select a one touch button in which you can reduce or enlarge your document. Press a button and it will be highlighted in blue. Press start.
  4. Select XYZ zoom put in a number between 25% and 400% and press start. You will notice a dark blue box: enter a number to enlarge or reduce your document.


Sorting: What is the sort function?

The sort function is used to collate your document.


How can I sort copies?

Select finishing button, then select the sort button to separate each set of multi-page originals.


Stapling: How can I staple copies?

Choose the finishing button, then the Staple button; see options.


How many copies can I staple?

You can staple up to 50 sheets.


Job List: How do I delete a job?

Go to job list on the left hand corner of the LCD panel; press the button of your existing job to highlight it in blue. Press the delete button on the bottom of the screen.


Bypass Tray: Where is the bypass tray?

The bypass tray is on the right hand side of the copier.


What is the function of the bypass tray?

The function of the bypass tray is for: OHP - Overhead Transparency; Envelopes; Normal Paper; Thick Paper (heavy stock); Colored Paper; Letterhead paper


Scan: How can I scan a document?

Press fax/scan button; select the format: pdf (adobe acrobat) or the tif (picture file). Press start: the file will go directly to your departmental share on the Y:\ drive, which you can access from your office computer. Proof Button: What is the function of the proof button and what color is it?

The blue proof button allows you to see your first set of documents before you print.


Quality Density: What is the quality/density button used for?

It makes documents lighter or darker.


Book Copying: How do I copy a book?

  1. Press applications; select book copy/repeat
  2. Select book copy; then select left bind (English) or right bind (Hebrew or Chinese).
  3. Press book separation to print 2 sheets of the book or book spread to print 1 single sheet
  4. Press book erase to erase the black line in the middle of 11 x 17 paper.
  5. Press start.


Reset Button: What is the reset button and what color is it?

Yellow; defaults all settings to the original screen; use it before/after making copies.


Interrupt Button: What is the interrupt button?

The interrupt button is used to interrupt the print jobs so you can make a copy.


Paper Jams: Does the copier let you know where the paper jam is located?

Yes: an arrow on the LCD panel points to the paper jam; to remove it follow the green arrows.


Toner: How do I replace the toner?

Open the front door, pull blue handle open, remove the empty bottle; replace it with new toner.


How do I know if I have the right toner?

Look at the number on the box and compare it to the number on the blue label on the tray.


Utility Counter: Where and what is the utility counter?

On the LCD panel: press it to get your meter reading (total number of copies made).


Power Button: Where is the power button and what color is it?

The white and black button on the left rear of the copier shuts off the entire machine. The gray button on the right hand side of the LCD panel shuts off the display panel only.


Serial Number: Where is the KM serial number?

  1. On a sticker on top of the copier
  2. On the back of your system near the power cord.


Envelopes: How do I print envelopes?

  1. Load envelopes into bypass tray; from the LCD panel select the paper
  2. Select the bypass tray above the change setting button; select change settings.
  3. Select normal for the paper type (do not select envelope for paper type).
  4. Select custom size; enter the envelope size. Press Y for height; press X for width.
  5. Press the up and down arrow to increase the size of the envelope; press enter.
  6. Select the KM printer; open Word, select Tools menu, letters & mailings, envelopes & labels.
  7. Enter the desired delivery and return addresses.
  8. Click the options tab; select the correct envelope size.
  9. Select OK, and then print.
