Origins
Support Wiki is a collaborative resource for Information Technology staff and our community of technology users at The Graduate Center, CUNY in New York, NY. The wiki is maintained with assistance from Information Technology and the Research Computing Group. The fun began Monday, February 12th, 2007.
Objectives
Provide The Graduate Center community with an easily accessible database of user support information. Provide Information Technology and Library staff with a shared resource for aggregating, editing and disseminating both user support and internal technical information. Use Web 2.0 technology to provide The Graduate Center Community access to updated support documentation. Create a support environment and a searchable database of support information that is interactive and responsive to change. Empower Information Technology staff to contribute to and update a database of support information.
Technology
Thanks to the outstanding work of The Graduate Center's Research Computing group, Support Wiki is implemented with the open source MediaWiki software and is running on open source LAMP server technology. This is made possible by the generous support of the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology and External Programs at The Graduate Center, CUNY.
Our Philosophy
| This image signifies that technology is an interactive part of our environment. Technology affects us and we affect technology. Information Technology, as a department, exists to support the user community and the growth of our professional staff. This fact is reflected in the central dominance of the human figure in our Support Wiki logo. This image was designed by Michael Oman-Reagan and was inspired by the work of the Environmental Psychology department at The Graduate Center, CUNY. |

Other Projects
The Support Wiki Sysop team is also involved in experimental efforts to construct a user portal which could provide The Graduate Center community with 2GB email storage, open standards calendaring and a customizable home page.
