Regularly Scheduled Maintenance

Scheduled Maintenance and Outages

  • Friday mornings 5:00 am - 6:00 am are reserved for standard maintenance activities; during this period a variety of IT services may be unavailable.
  • Sunday mornings from 8:30 am - 10:00 am Blackboard is unavailable to the entire University for regularly scheduled service


Maintenance and Outages By Date

October 7, 2007 (Sunday)

This weekend the switches at the core of the 57th Street data network will be upgraded. This upgrade is scheduled to commence at 7:45am on Sunday, October 7th. During this upgrade we are anticipating outages of the following services for up to 3 hours at the beginning of the maintenance period.

  • The University Portal
  • Blackboard
  • ListServ
  • Central Office email
  • DegreeWorks
  • eSIMS
  • eProcurement
  • Data Warehouse
  • IR Data Warehouse
  • Honors College email
  • Affiliated Web Sites

Services will be brought back online throughout the maintenance period. Blackboard, University Portal and email services will be restored as the top priority.


October 8, 2007 (Monday)

Information Technology – Enterprise, Networks and Systems staff (ENS) will perform server maintenance on Columbus Day, Monday, October 8, 2007 given that the building will be closed. As a result, there will be intermittent short term outages of many network resources, including U:\; S:\; T:\ and R:\ drives and email but there will be no loss of internet connectivity. Should you experience problems accessing a network resource after coming back to work on Tuesday, please restart your computer.


August 10, 2007 (Friday) 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Information Technology – Enterprise, Networks & Systems staff (ENS) – will perform major network upgrades and maintenance from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, August 10, 2007. As a result, there will be intermittent outages on network drives (U:\, S:\, T:\ and R:\) and internet access and email will be inaccessible.

Should you experience problems accessing the above services upon the conclusion of this exercise, please restart your computer. For all other technical assistance, please contact the Help Desk at helpdesk@gc.cuny.edu.
