What is VPN?

The Virtual Private Network (VPN) provides a remote secure, high speed connection to network resources previously available only at the Graduate Center. The service provides a secure, high speed connection to the Graduate Center's computing resources and Mina Rees library databases.

What do I need to use VPN?

A computer with an Internet connection, a current web browser, and a valid GC computer account.

How do I uninstall VPN?

Uninstalling the VPN Client from a Mac

This section describes how to uninstall the VPN Client. If you have already downloaded the VPN Client and have had problems connecting to the CUNY network, we recommend you uninstall any previous command-line or GUI version of the VPN Client from your workstation. Note:You must have administrator privileges to uninstall the VPN Client. If you do not have administrator privileges, you must have someone with administrator privileges uninstall the product for you.

The VPN Client uninstall script uninstalls any previous command-line or GUI version of the VPN Client from your workstation. To uninstall the VPN Client for Mac OS X

  1. Open Terminal, located in the Applications/Utilities/ folder
  2. Run the following command:
sudo /usr/local/bin/vpn_uninstall 
  1. You will be prompted for a password. Enter the administrator password for your computer and press Enter. The insertion cursor will not move when you type, but the terminal will still be accepting your input.
  2. Respond with yes to all the prompts the uninstaller gives you.
  3. Quit Terminal.
